Canal Home by Nadina Plomer

Interior designer and developer Nadina Plomer gave us the opportunity to photograph this beautiful Japandi home along one of Amsterdam’s canals. The brief was to create a series of premium real estate photography images capturing its transformation from a former yoga studio into a high-end family home, in time for its sale.

Designed by Plomer herself and styled by Janne Wellens, the interior balances earthy materials and curved lines against furniture with real edge and presence. It’s a space built on tension where soft architecture sits against robust, deliberate choices. The aim was to translate a genuinely significant renovation — the property’s value grew from €1.8 million to €3.5 million in two years — into images that would do the transformation justice. Together with Plomer, we worked toward a visual language rooted specific to the home’s interior architecture.

We photographed the property room by room, from the double-height living area through the indoor courtyard to the private quarters, giving equal weight to wide architectural shots and closer material detail. Wide-angle compositions captured the scale of the space, while close collaboration with Plomer ensured each frame served the interior design rather than simply documenting square meters.

While the primary brief was to capture the home for its real estate listing, we also found ourselves shooting dedicated product photos for interior brands Mokko and Selé, whose pieces feature throughout the home. This meant working two briefs in a single visit: real estate images built to sell a space, and brand images built to sell the objects inside it, without either shoot compromising the other.
